A visit to Fraser Island

Make sure you don’t leave Hervey Bay without visiting Fraser Island. Located 30km off the shore of Hervey Bay, Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. It is a World Heritage site featuring sprawling dunes, freshwater lakes, and forested area. It is also known for its rich biodiversity. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about Fraser Island is that it remains relatively untouched despite being a popular tourist destination. If you want to see eco-tourism at its finest, spending some time in Fraser Island should be included in your to-do list.

Go Whale Watching

If there’s one thing Hervey Bay is most famous for, it’s whale watching. Whale watching in Hervey Bay is a very popular activity, attracting hundreds of tourists every year. From April to October, humpback whales use the local coastal berths as their resting place. If you want to get up close and personal with these gentle giants and see them play, this activity is something you shouldn’t miss. Apart from boat tours, there are clear and spacious viewing decks in the area to give you the best viewing experience.
